Head boy
My name is Scott Given and I have had the honour of being appointed Head Boy for this academic year.
At Laurelhill I have always felt safe and happy and this has been due to the schools friendly, caring, supportive environment. I credit all the staff here for this and for the amazing sevenyears that I have spent here.
I have gained so much during my time at Laurelhill both academically and through extracurricular experiences. I have had the privilege to be part of our school’s basketball team, representing the school in many tournaments; and had the opportunity to take part in our school's award-winning productions of “Footloose”, “Annie” and “Popstars the Musical”. I take pride in being an active member of our Brighter Minds team, our school’s ScriptureUnion and having a leading role within the S.U committee. I have enjoyed being a mentor to Year Eight pupils and helping them settle into a new school life. I enjoyed my prefect dutiesin Lower Sixth and now in Upper Sixth I am thoroughly enjoying my role as Head Boy. Through my various roles and responsibilities I have gained experience in managing tasks, overcoming challenges, working collaboratively and managing deadlines.
As Head Boy I have strived to lead by example through my behaviour, attendance, communication skills and having a positive attitude to learning. I have been supportive and approachable to all students.
I will be sad to say goodbye to the college, but I will leave with an abundance of happy and enjoyable memories and hope that I have made an indelible contribution to Laurelhill life.
Head Girl
My name is Sarah Mullan and it is an honour to be filling the role of Head Girl at Laurelhill Community College for 2025/2026.
LCC has an inclusive, friendly and warm community environment which values positive relationships between pupils and staff. Our emphasis on ‘Learning and Achieving Together’ is upheld by the excellent pastoral care and constant support available from the teachers who have helped me, both through my studies and personal development over the years. They have dedicated their time and effort into ensuring that all pupils reach their personal best and always have a listening ear.
At Laurelhill we are encouraged to strive to meet the school's core values of ‘REACH’ Respect, Effort, Achievement, Community and Happiness, which have laid the foundations for so many of the happy memories and friendships I have made along the way; and contributing to the overall focus of our school.
Throughout my time in Laurelhill, I have embraced the many opportunities the school has to offer both in and out of the classroom. This has included being part of the netball team, school choir, going to London for the Commonwealth, travelling to Dublin to see a live performance of ‘Blood Brothers’ and other department trips.
I have been an avid attender of our school Scripture Union which I joined in year 8 and I am now a member of the SU committee, helping with the running and coordination. This has been an amazing opportunity to build friendships with pupils of all ages, having fun together and building our faith. Through these opportunities I have gained so many invaluable life skills and have built so many relationships which will last a life-time.
As Head Girl, I aspire to lead by example for all pupils, representing the values of the school and always offering a helping hand to others through the ‘Samaritans Purse’ programme. Through working with the senior prefect team, staff members and fellow pupils in this role I hope to continue on the Laurelhill vision of always trying your best and grasping every opportunity life offers to you.
