Match Report: Year 8 Football vs. St Patricks Academy

There was a tangible mood switch when Kacey C launched herself into her first 50/50 challenge on Wednesday afternoon. Like all of the other challenges that followed, she came out with the ball and left the unsuspecting opponent in a crumpled heap, not quite sure what had hit him. Kacey is four and half foot of pure determination. In the beep test in PE, she ran herself into the ground. She’s the Y8 Girls’ Cross Country Champion. In everything she does, she’s all in. It’s an attitude that will serve her well. Kacey was a deserved player of the match on Wednesday.

The Year 8B team lined up against St Patricks on a beautiful sunny afternoon and in a high scoring game, were unfortunate to lose 4-3. For Laurelhill, Abdul R scored a fantastic solo goal in the first half and Tom O scored a super brace in the second half. Well done to Rowan D who made his debut for the school and played very well at right midfield. Special mention also to David T who was exceptional in central defence. His highlights reel would include a series of tackles to be proud of. Tejai J played very well on the wing, showing fast feet and composure on the ball, and Karam A was the epitome of hard work at right back. Joshua G played very well at left midfield and Tom R’s passing in the second half was excellent.

Well done to all who played on Wednesday.

Mr Hillis
